Red River Métis Circle of Educators

The Red River Métis Circle of Educators brings together Red River Métis teachers across Manitoba in relationship building, co-learning, resource sharing and cultural preservation. The four focus areas of this program are:

  • Teacher networking
  • Professional development
  • Culture and Heritage
  • Teaching resources

To inspire a greater number of Red River Métis citizens to enter the education profession and thrive as educators, because of the support they receive from knowledge-keepers, cultural institutions, and their peers through the Red River Métis Circle of Educators. Red River Métis educators will be valued for their unique contributions to the education sector and to the success of all students in Manitoba, including Red River Métis students.

"The Louis Riel Institute is proud to be partnering with the Rideau Hall Foundation on piloting the Red River Métis Circle of Educators Project to provide connection, support, and professional development opportunities for Red River Métis K-12 teachers across Manitoba. We are confident this initiative will be a positive force in attracting and retaining Red River Métis teachers, and ensuring Red River Métis students see their culture and identity reflected among their teachers and in their day-to-day learning activities."

- Joan Ledoux, Vice Chair of Louis Riel Intitute and Manitoba Métis Federation Minister of Provincial Education.
