The Louis Riel Institute administers a number of bursaries and awards on behalf of the MMF. Working with post-secondary institutions, partners and stakeholders, the Louis Riel Institute works to ensure Red River Métis students are informed and have ease of access to apply to these funds.
The bursaries and awards offered through the Louis Riel Institute are aimed toward Red River Métis students who can successfully prove Manitoba Métis Federation Citizenship, who are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution in Manitoba, and who meet all qualifying factors of the funding.
The MMF continues to support post-secondary students through the Louis Riel Bursary. This Bursary is available to Red River Métis students at several post-secondary institutions across Manitoba and are administered through the Louis Riel Institute in partnership with the post-secondary institutions.
Qualified students are required to complete a 2-part application. 1 with LRI and 1 with the students' post-secondary institution. The Louis Riel Institute confirms an applicant's eligibility for the bursary through verification of Manitoba Métis Federation citizenship and the post-secondary institution determines the bursary recipients based on their individual assessment criteria(s).

Louis Riel Bursary Application

This Bursary is available to Red River Métis students across Manitoba who excel in academics and the community and who show financial need. Post-secondary students who have been a resident of Manitoba for the last 12 months may qualify for the Mary Guilbault Métis Bursary, administered through the Louis Riel Institute.
Qualified students are encouraged to complete an application, provide a transcript or statement of marks from the most recent academic year and provide two letters of recommendation along with an essay. Each application will be assessed on an individual basis.
Students are eligible to apply for the Mary Guilbault Métis Bursary every year they are enrolled at their post-secondary institution.

Mary Guilbault Métis Bursary Application

The Red River Métis & Cantor's Family Award is available to Red River Métis students who are attending a post-secondary institution in Manitoba. The student must be enrolled in butcher/abattoir, culinary arts, or any agricultural programs which focus on the study of livestock and processes used for the purpose of feeding people or a related field in which you can express the connection to the butcher/abattoir field.
Qualified students are encouraged to complete an application, provide a copy of an acceptance letter from their institution, three letters of recommendation, and a 500+ word essay.

The Red River Métis & Cantor's Family Award Application

The Vickar Community Chevrolet Award is available to Red River Métis students enrolled at Red River College Polytechnic and registered in one of the prerequisite programs:
Qualified students are required to complete a two-part application through Red River College Polytechnic and the Louis Riel Institute. Each application will be assessed on an individual basis.
Students are eligible to apply for the Vickar Community Chevrolet Award every year they are enrolled as long as the award criteria is met.

The Senator Gerry & Margaret St. Germain Bursary is available to grade 12 Red River Métis students across Manitoba who excel in Math/or Science and are involved in the Red River Métis Community. If you are planning a post-secondary education in Manitoba, you may quality for the bursary which is administered through the Louis Riel Institute.
Qualified students are encouraged to complete an application, provide a transcript or statement of marks from their most recent year and provide two letters of recommendation, along with an essay. Each application will be assessed on an individual basis.

St. Germain Bursary Application

The Audreen Hourie Governance Fellowship is available to Red River Métis students enrolled at the University of Winnipeg. Students accepted into the Masters of Aboriginal Governance or Masters of Development Practice, who are involved with their community, and who show financial need are encouraged to apply.
Qualified students are required to complete an application through the University of Winnipeg. Each fellowship will be assessed on an individual basis and are directly linked to an applicant's enrollment in either the Masters of Indigenous Studies program or the Masters of Development Practice program.

The MMF Post-Secondary Education Support Program aims to improve the education of Red River Métis students from the Red River Métis Community by providing them with funding to access educational opportunities at the post-secondary level. Eligible post-secondary levels include:
