Job Title: Adult Learning Centre (ALC) Teacher
Location: 103-150 Henry Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba
Job Summary: Under the direction of the ALC Director, the ALC Teacher plans and
implements course programming for adult learners. The role includes teaching classes,
designing and facilitating web-based and independent-study options.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Administration: Prepare classroom materials; develop course objectives and outlines; plan balanced instructional activities combining instruction, demonstration and practice; maintain accurate student records and prepare reports on student performance and program activities.
Instruction: Teach lessons across multiple subjects using lectures, hands-on activities and group discussions to accommodate diverse learning styles; adapt teaching methods to students' strengths and weaknesses; and emphasize practical skills.
Student Evaluation: Assign and grade class work and homework; observe and evaluate students to determine progress and provide feedback.
Communication & Documentation: Establish clear objectives for lessons and communicate them to students; maintain accurate records; and prepare required reports.
Assess & Support Learning: Provide guidance and counseling to students with academic or personal challenges; observe students to identify their abilities, limitations and interests; review instructional content and student evaluations to improve courses; establish and enforce classroom rules; encourage students to pursue further learning opportunities; and identify developmental needs, coaching students to improve their skills.
Qualifications:
Education & Certification: Bachelor of Education degree with a Manitoba permanent
professional teaching certificate.
Skills & Competencies: ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment; respect for Red River Métis culture; strong interpersonal and communication skills; positive attitude and problem-solving ability; attention to detail and strong organizational skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and use correct English grammar and punctuation;
